Mysore
The third largest city in Karnataka, Mysore gets its
name from Mahishasura, the demon from Puranas, who used
to rule here. This city of palaces, flowers and sandalwood
was once the residence of the Maharajas of Mysore.
Ooty
Founded by British colonists attempting to escape the
heat of the Indian summer, Ooty soon became a popular
British summer retreat and a favored resort of the Indian
Maharajas. This 'Queen of hill stations' lies in the
Nilgiri hills amidst tea gardens, pine and eucalyptus
trees, and is a favourite location for Bollywood film
shootings.
