About Belarus
Belarus is a country landlocked in Eastern Europe that recently opened its tourism gates to tourists. And, it’s now becoming a popular travel destination in Europe. The country has two official languages which are Belarusian and Russian. Belarus is 90% covered in forests with lush vegetation and mesmerising countryside. You will find an abundance of wildlife which is out in the forest or in the national parks.
Belarus Geography
Belarus is a heavily forested country with few lowlands. The highest point of the country is the Dzerzhinsky Hill which is about 1,135 ft and the Neman River is its lowest point which is at 90 meters. There are also many streams and lakes which are scattered about the mountainous area of the country.
Belarus Climate and Weather
Belarus has a continental climate with similar moderate characteristics to that of Central Europe. Summers are short and hot, it lasts at least about 150 days and thunderstorms are quite common. Winters are long and cold. There’s snowfall throughout the country from the month of December up to early March.
Belarus History
The history of Belarus started in the 6th century when they were invaded by the Slavic tribes who settled there. Many of the Jewish people were killed by the Germans during their rule. Belarus went through a lot of painful history in both WWI and WWII. And, with the collapse of the Soviet Union, they got their independence on 27th July 1990.

The culture of Belarus is under the impact and influence of many factors. It has a rich cultural heritage that dates back to centuries whether its food, art, architecture, literal works etc. Now the culture is more dynamic and varied. Most of its culture is seen in its history, fine arts, music, theatre etc.

The food of Belarus is highly influenced by the cuisine of many other neighbouring European countries. Their food usually consists of meat and a variety of vegetables. Back in the days, people use to eat legumes as a source of protein but now a day’s people eat a lot of pork meat.
